5. Staff commitment hours & OJTH

The learner must evidence that 6 hours of their working hours have contributed to their development and completion of the apprenticeship programme. This is achieved through a combination of programme hours and OJTH.

Programme commitment hours

Below is an example of the monthly commitment hours for the level 3 Housing and Property Management apprenticeship. These are the GLH (guided learning hours) that we estimate as to how long your staff member needs to dedicate towards work directly linked to the apprenticeship i.e., completing worksheets, working on a project, or gathering and uploading work-based evidence. To search for your specific programmes commitment hours, speak to your KTA point of contact.

As mentioned, the goal for the learner is to evidence that 6 hours of their working week has contributed towards their development on the programme. If we use 1 day (6 hours) from a 5-day week as an example, then using month 3 from the example above, it states a guide of around 8 hours of programme hours over the month, translating as roughly 2 hours a week. Meaning, if they spend 2 hours on programme commitment hours, the learner will need to record a further 4 hours of OJTH via diary entries to total up to target of 6 hours for that week. As a rule general rule, valid diary entries are those that show something new has been learnt or demonstrated and must link back to the programme syllabus. Examples of valid entries, as well as the format of entries can be seen below.
