Understanding Ofsted Inspections: What Employers Need to Know
As a valued employer partner of Knights Training Academy, you play an important role in supporting apprentices — and that includes being part of the Ofsted inspection process. Here’s a simple overview of what happens during an inspection, what you might be asked to do, and how it affects you.
What Is an Ofsted Inspection?
Ofsted inspections are official reviews of training providers to ensure high standards in education, safeguarding, and learner development. They happen every few years and are carried out by trained inspectors.
What Happens During an Inspection?
– Notice: Knights will usually receive short notice (typically 2 days) before an inspection begins.
– On-Site Visit: Inspectors visit the training provider and may speak to staff, learners, and employers.
– Review: They look at curriculum quality, learner progress, safeguarding, inclusion, and employer involvement.
– Duration: Inspections typically last 2–3 days, depending on the size of the provider.
What Might You Be Asked to Do?
– Provide Feedback: You may be invited to share your views on the training and learner progress.
– Meet Inspectors: In some cases, inspectors may ask to speak with you directly (usually virtually or by phone).
– Show Support: Demonstrate how you help learners apply their skills, stay safe, and feel included.
