Building Professional Confidence Through Apprenticeships

At Knights Training Academy, we are proud to support learners working across housing and property management to develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to progress in their careers.

This month, we are pleased to share the success story of Tanya Kirk, who successfully completed her Housing & Property Management Level 3 Apprenticeship while working full time in a demanding property role.

Flexibility That Worked Around Full-Time Work

When asked how the apprenticeship fitted around her work commitments, Tanya highlighted the flexibility and structure of the programme:

“The apprenticeship worked really well around my job. It was flexible and well organised, and being able to use my day-to-day work as evidence made it much easier to manage alongside full-time work.”

Being able to link learning directly to real workplace activity allowed Tanya to stay focused, practical and engaged throughout the programme.

Tutor Support That Made a Real Difference

Support from her tutor played a key role in Tanya’s successful completion, particularly during a period of change at work:

“The support from my tutor was great throughout the programme. Judith was always approachable and helpful, and I really appreciated how sessions and guidance were adapted to suit my role, especially when it came to project writing and assessments.”

When Tanya changed employer after gateway sign-off and was no longer able to complete study time during working hours, her tutor adapted quickly:

“Judith was extremely supportive and kindly offered as many sessions as I needed outside of working hours. This flexibility made a huge difference and really helped me stay on track and successfully complete the apprenticeship.”

Learning Applied Directly in the Workplace

Tanya was able to apply new knowledge immediately within her role, strengthening both confidence and competence:

“I’ve learnt a lot that I now use at work, particularly about UK housing history, housing legislation, compliance, and best practice. This has made me more confident when dealing with customer queries and understanding tenancy responsibilities.”

This practical application is a core strength of the apprenticeship route, allowing learning to translate directly into improved performance.

Impact on Current Role and Future Progression

Reflecting on the wider impact of the apprenticeship, Tanya explained:

“Overall, the apprenticeship has definitely improved my confidence and ability in my role and has given me a strong base for future progression in property management.”

While the qualification has not yet been recognised by her current employer, Tanya sees clear long-term value:

“I do feel it adds value to my CV and I’m confident it will have a positive impact on my future career and opportunities within housing and property management.”

Why Recommend Knights Training Academy?

When asked whether she would recommend Knights Training Academy to others, Tanya was clear:

“I would happily recommend Knights Training Academy to others. The main benefits for me were the ongoing support and the practical nature of the learning.”

She also identified three key advantages of the apprenticeship route compared to traditional training:
Learning while working and applying knowledge straight away

Gaining real, hands-on experience rather than purely classroom-based learning

Ongoing support throughout the programme, rather than one-off training

Looking Ahead

Tanya’s journey highlights how apprenticeships can support learners through change, build confidence, and provide a strong foundation for long-term career development in housing and property management.

We would like to congratulate Tanya on successfully completing her apprenticeship and wish her every success in her future career.

Apprenticeship Changes 2026: What Employers Need to Know

The Government has announced major apprenticeship reforms, backed by £900m investment over the next three years.

Get ahead in the agent qualification journey

Mandatory qualifications for property agents are firmly back on the agenda. Revived by the RoPA report and reinforced through ongoing Government consultation, the direction of travel is clear. The sector is moving towards higher standards, greater accountability and formal recognition of competence.
