What Employers Need to Know About Ofsted’s New Inspection Framework
If you currently have apprentices with Knights Training Academy, here’s what you need to know about the new Ofsted inspection approach — and how your support plays a vital role.
What’s Changing?
Ofsted is updating how it inspects apprenticeship providers. Starting November 2025, inspections will focus more deeply on learner development, inclusion, and employer involvement. The old grading system is being replaced with a new five-point scale:
- Exceptional
- Strong Standard
- Expected Standard
- Needs Attention
- Urgent Improvement
Providers will now receive detailed report cards with multiple grades across areas like curriculum, teaching, achievement, and safeguarding.
What Does This Mean for You?
As an employer, you may be asked to:
- Provide feedback on your apprentice’s progress and the relevance of their training.
- Demonstrate support for learner development, inclusion, and safeguarding. Engage in review meetings or speak with inspectors (usually virtually).
Your involvement helps show that apprentices are gaining real-world skills and are well-supported in the workplace.
