What Employers Need to Know About Ofsted’s New Inspection Framework

Ofsted Logo
If you currently have apprentices with Knights Training Academy, here’s what you need to know about the new Ofsted inspection approach — and how your support plays a vital role.

What’s Changing?

Ofsted is updating how it inspects apprenticeship providers. Starting November 2025, inspections will focus more deeply on learner development, inclusion, and employer involvement. The old grading system is being replaced with a new five-point scale:

  • Exceptional
  • Strong Standard
  • Expected Standard
  • Needs Attention
  • Urgent Improvement

Providers will now receive detailed report cards with multiple grades across areas like curriculum, teaching, achievement, and safeguarding.

What Does This Mean for You?

As an employer, you may be asked to:

  • Provide feedback on your apprentice’s progress and the relevance of their training.
  • Demonstrate support for learner development, inclusion, and safeguarding. Engage in review meetings or speak with inspectors (usually virtually).

Your involvement helps show that apprentices are gaining real-world skills and are well-supported in the workplace.

How Knights Will Support You

We’ll make this easy for you:

You’ll receive a simple feedback form and mentoring guide.
We’ll give you advance notice if inspectors want to speak with you.
Our team is here to help with safeguarding, SEND support, and curriculum input.

Government roadmap puts property qualifications centre stage

The government’s new Home Buying and Selling Reform Roadmap makes one thing clear: the property sector is moving towards higher standards, stronger professional expectations and, in time, mandatory qualifications for estate and letting agents. While the consultation on minimum qualifications is not due until 2027, the direction of travel is already set.

Apprenticeship Changes 2026: What Employers Need to Know

The Government has announced major apprenticeship reforms, backed by £900m investment over the next three years.
The direction is clear. More focus on 16–24-year-olds, key skills gaps, and making apprenticeships easier for employers to use.

Get ahead in the agent qualification journey

Mandatory qualifications for property agents are firmly back on the agenda. Revived by the RoPA report and reinforced through ongoing Government consultation, the direction of travel is clear. The sector is moving towards higher standards, greater accountability and formal recognition of competence.
